Satisfaction with the performance of the PEI provincial government led by Premier Dennis King has increased, according to the latest survey by Narrative Research. Currently, a majority of Islanders are satisfied with the performance of Premier King’s government (57%, up from 47% in May 2024). Four in ten are dissatisfied (39%, down from 49% in May 2024).
The Progressive Conservative Party continues to have the lead among decided voters. If an election were held today, the PCs are the preferred choice for under one-half of decided voters (45%, compared with 42% in May 2024). One-third support the Green Party (32%, compared with 33% in May 2024). Two in ten would support the Liberal Party (22%, compared with 15% last quarter), while a few would support the NDP (2%, compared with 7%).
PC leader Dennis King maintains a lead as choice for Premier, preferred by four in ten Islanders (39%, compared with 36% last quarter). Two in ten Islanders would prefer interim Green Party leader Karla Bernard as Premier (22%, compared with 19%), while 16% would prefer Hal Perry, interim leader of the Liberal Party (compared with 13%). Few would prefer Michelle Neill of the NDP (3%, compared with 7%).
These results are part of Narrative Research’s Atlantic Quarterly®, an independent telephone survey of Atlantic Canadians, and are drawn from a sample of 300 adult PEI residents, conducted from August 6-15, 2024, with overall results accurate to within ± 5.7 percentage points, 95 out of 100 times. The results are weighted by region, age and gender to reflect the overall PEI adult population.
