- Progressive Conservatives maintain a lead in voting intentions, ahead of both the Liberal and Green parties.

Satisfaction with the performance of the PEI provincial government led by Premier Dennis King remains very strong. Currently, eight in ten Islanders are satisfied with Premier King’s government (80%, compared with 81% in August 2021). Satisfaction is high across regions and various demographic segments.
“Premier King and his government continue to enjoy levels of satisfaction that have not been witnessed since the days of Premier Binns,” said Margaret Brigley, CEO & Partner of Narrative Research. “This strong support is reflective of the public’s confidence in Premier King’s management of the pandemic and the Island’s enviable position in terms of case numbers.”
If an election were held today, the PCs continue to be the preferred choice for half of decided voters (51%, compared with 48% in August 2021). Support for the Green Party has declined after an increase the previous quarter (19%, compared with 28% in August 2021, and 23% in May 2021), while voting intentions for the Liberal Party stands at 21% (compared with 17% last quarter). Support for the NDP sits at eight percent (compared with 7% last quarter). Support for the PCs is notably lower among 18 to 34 year olds. This age cohort tends to be more divided across parties.
In terms of preference for premier, PC leader Dennis King continues to lead, preferred by approximately one-half of Islanders (52%, stable with 48% in August 2021). Support for other party leaders continues to be much lower and relatively stable. Green Party leader Peter Bevan-Baker is chosen by two in ten Islanders (19%, compared with 22% last quarter), while one-in-ten would like to see the interim leader of the Liberal Party, Sonny Gallant, as premier (9%, unchanged). Meanwhile, three percent would prefer the next leader of the NDP (compared with 4% in August 2021). Similar to party support, stronger support for Dennis King as preferred premier is evident among those 35 or older, whereas he does not have a strong lead among 18 to 34 year olds.
These results are part of Narrative Research’s Atlantic Quarterly®, an independent telephone survey of Atlantic Canadians, and are drawn from a sample of 601 adult PEI residents, conducted from November 3-28, 2021, with overall results accurate to within ± 4.0 percentage points, 95 out of 100 times.
